One can apply for the selection to a particular post when it is notified by the Jammu & Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) through Advertisement Notice. The applicant’s candidature for the selection to such post is valid only if he/she satisfies all the eligibility criteria specified for the selection as well as the modalities for applying for the said post.

The JKSSB notifies the selection to a post once the vacancy for the post is referred/reported to the Board by the respective Administrative Department and Board carries out the process of recruitment by advertising such post, followed by examination, finalizing of the selection list out of it, based on selection criteria as per the extant rules/regulations.

A person applying for a selection shall satisfy all the eligibility criteria given under the Notification concerned, as regards the prescribed qualification and other such requisite details as forwarded by the respective Indenting department.

The age limits (upper & lower) for a particular post are given in detail under the relevant Advertisement /Notification for that post. Normally, a relaxation is given to candidates belonging to Reserved Categories.

The day of reckoning age of an applicant for a selection is the 1st day of January of the year in which the Board publishes a particular Advertisement Notification for that particular Selection.

No, the applicant is required to have/possess all the prescribed educational qualification and other requisite documents for applying for a particular post, acquired/issued well within the last date/cut off date as is fixed in the relevant Advertisement Notification. Normally, the cut-off date is the last date of submission of online application form.

As is given in the relevant existing and governing Acts/Rules/Regulations/GOs/SOs, Which are invoked on or before the date of a particular advertisement notification.

For all sub-ordinate services/recruitment, the positions/ranks/merit are based on the basis of merit cum preference. In the event of a tie, the order of merit shall be determined in the following: -
a) Marks obtained in the written examination; or
b) points obtained in viva voce
c) elder in age.
